MEADOWLAKES Donald Leon Belcher, 74, of Meadowlakes, Texas, formerly of Odessa, Texas, died December 10, 2009.
Born September 11, 1935 in McCamey, Texas, Don was the son of Leon & L.Z. (Johnson) Belcher.
He was a petro chemical scheduler for Huntsman in Odessa and retired after 42 years with them. Don loved football and was a football referee for years. Don was a member of Highland Lakes Church of Christ. He cherished his family and cared for them deeply. Don was past president of the Odessa Sports Committee, a member of West Texas Relays committee and a member of the Hi Noon Optimist Club.
Don is survived by his wife, Barbara of Meadowlakes; sons, Larry Belcher & wife Terry of The Woodlands, Ronnie Belcher & wife Laurie of Henderson; daughter, Cheryl Smith & husband Gavin of Horseshoe Bay; grandchildren, Staci Byrom & husband Eric, Zach Belcher & wife Kristen, Kelly Belcher & wife Emily, Chris Belcher & wife Megan, Mallory Chelette, Ashleigh Stevens, Johnna Stevens, Grant Smith, Laren Smith, Harrison Smith and Alexis Smith and great grandchildren: Kit Byrom and Addison Belcher. He is also survived by his brother, Jack Belcher & wife Lou Ann of Kingsland; sisters, Connie Mitchell of Marble Falls and Janie White & husband Paul of Horseshoe Bay; sisters-in-law & brothers-in-law, Sandy & Vearl McDaniel of Meadowlakes and Carolyn "Dutch" & Rahe Slover of Del Rio; other relatives and many close friends.
Don was preceded in death by his parents.
Memorial service will be Tuesday, December 15, 2009 at 11 a.m. at Clements-Wilcox Funeral Home with Joe Winnett officiating. A graveside service will be Wednesday, December 16, 2009 at 10 a.m. at Restland Cemetery in Iraan, Texas.
Memorials may be made to Highland Lakes Church of Christ, MD Anderson Hospital or Seton Hospice.
Arrangements are under the direction of Clements-Wilcox Funeral Home of Marble Falls.
