Mary Anne Moore married Joseph C. Wilson, 2 January 1860, in Marshall, Mississippi..
In August 1861 Joseph enlists in the Confederate Army. He is promoted from 5th Sergeant to 1LT by the wars end he is captured twice and traded back,, he fights in the battles of: Luka, Champion Hill, Atlanta, Franklin, Nashville (Captured), Yazoo Pass Expedition, Ft Donelson....He is in the Confederate Army from 1861 to 1865..He enlists in Company C, 23rd Mississippi Infantry and later commands Company G, 23rd Mississippi Infantry...Mary Ann brings medicine to Confederate troops, sewed in the hoop of her dress,, she throws hot water on Union Soldiers trying to capture Joseph while he is home on furlough.
Joseph and Mary Ann have 5 children, Augustus V. Wilson, Leonidas Ferdinand "Ferd" Wilson, Margaret Elizabeth (Wilson) Gotcher, Joseph C. Wilson, and Mary Ida Wilson, the names of 4 children are unknown. Three sons were rumored to have also joined the Confederate Army, one son dying of measles. Somewhere in time our Joseph disappears, rumors he died in New Mexico... lived in Arkansas or South Carolina......
She remarried Quincy Vivian Crump, they had 3 children. Quincy was in the CSA, Kentucky 2nd Cavalry. Quincy is a justice of the Peace and performed the marriage of Anne's son Leonidas in 1879 to Sarah Bowman. Quincy is thought to be buried next to Mary Ann at Menard........He has no stone....
Mary Anne had 12 children, nine alive at her death, she had 50 grandchildren, and 29 great grandchildren.
She smoked a corncob pipe............
Mary Anne's father was Seth Moore, Company B, 7th Mississippi Cavalry, CSA, her mother was Margaret....both believed to be buried in Tippah, Mississippi....
