THE PARIS NEWS, 28 Apr 1967:
Joseph Wilson (Joe Bill) Caldwell, 53, postmaster at Sumner, died of illness, Friday at 2:40 a.m. at McCuistion Hospital in Paris. He was a member of Sumner Methodist Church, where the body will lie Saturday from 2 to 3 p.m. when service will be held, Leverett & Steele of Paris to make interment in nearby Hopewell Cemetery.
Born 23 Apr 1914 at Chicota, Joe Bill Caldwell was a son of C. W. and Betty (Collins) Caldwell. He was a World War II veteran and member of the Odd Fellows lodge. He formerly operated a grocery at Sumner.
He married Miss Leona Townsend in 1934, and she survives, besides three children: Jack (Buddy) Caldwell, Richardson; Joe Caldwell, Dallas, and Mrs. Carol Briggle, Fort Worth; Also three grandchildren; two brothers, James E. Caldwell and Robert L. Caldwell, both of Dallas, and a sister, Mrs. Frances Howie of Richardson.
