Marguerite Alice "Marge" Olds

(8 Aug 1933 - 8 Jul 2015)

MARGUERITE “MARGE” KULY was born in Almont to (Gilbert) “La Verne” and (Florence) “Irene” Ivory Olds, sister to Roderick Earl “Red” Olds and Malcolm La Verne “Mickey” Olds. As a young girl she loved to ice skate, imagining herself as Sonja Henie. The family moved to Metamora and then on to Detroit when Marge was 6 years old, but during the summers she would return to Metamora with her brothers to help on the family farms. In Detroit, she met Albert Paul Kuly at Warrendale United Brethren Church Youth Group. She married Albert in 1951 and initially lived in Willow Run, MI. They subsequently had six children, Linda, Debbie, Michael, Diane, David and Chris. When she was 24 years old, Albert took a position as a mechanic at United Airlines maintenance base in San Francisco. They moved to California with the three oldest children, making their home in South San Francisco. In 1963, with five children in tow, they moved to Newark, CA, where her last child, Chris, was born. While living in Newark, she became an avid bowler. She lived in Newark till 1982. In Newark, she met her life-long friends, Sandy Heuer and Jeannine Dupree, where they raised all their children together, with all of them in and out of each others houses. The three of them also took trips to Hawaii and took cruises. She and Albert were divorced and afterwards she met the love of her life, Dick Ippolito. She and Dick traveled a lot to Hawaii, also took cruises and traveled in Dick’s motorhome and 5th wheel. She loved to travel. Marge moved to Union City in 1982, where she lived until she died.
Marge leaves behind her brother, Mickey Olds; her children, Linda (Kuly) Heiner, Debbie (Kuly) Gold, Michael Kuly, Diane (Kuly) Roque, David Kuly and Chris Kuly; 11 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
Marge battled chronic lung and heart conditions over at least 10 years till she was too weary to continue. Marge died at home under hospice care with her daughters Debbie, Diane and Chris in attendance. Sandy Heuer was also helpful and stayed by Marge’s side in and out of hospital admissions, reminiscing about past trips, friends and experiences.
A Memorial Celebration of Marge’s life is planned on Sunday, August 9th at 11 a.m. at The Tropics Clubhouse located at 33000 Almaden Blvd., Union City. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to the American Heart Association or the American Lung Association
We miss you Mom and take heart knowing you are free of pain and constant health struggles. We imagine you sitting on a beach in Hawaii at sunset, drinking a Pina Colada, watching the waves roll in…
