EVELYN POWELL GALLOWAY Funeral services for Mrs. Evelyn Powell Galloway, 97, of Opelika, will be Monday, November 17, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel at Jeffcoat-Trant Funeral Home, with the Reverends Billy Harris and Mike King officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Rosemere Cemetery. Mrs. Galloway was born in Elmore County, Kent, Alabama, on June 16, 1917. She has been a resident of Opelika for 57 years. She retired from Gayfer's Department Store after 18 years of service. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Opelika, and the Eunice Sunday School Class. She was also a member of the Tulip Garden Club, and the Museum of East Alabama. Mrs. Galloway was preceded in death by her husband of 28 years, William Wilson Galloway. She is survived by her daughter, Carol Powell Murphey (Larry), of Opelika; two grand- children, Larry Scott Murphey of Birmingham, and Melanie Murphey Fuller (Wade) of Montgomery; seven great grand- children, Austin Murphey, Jessica Murphey, Sawyer Murphey, Zach Fuller, Charlie Fuller, Colton Fuller and Kyle Fuller. Family respectfully requests that in lieu of flowers that any memorial be sent to the Oncology Dept. of EAMC, First Baptist Church of Opelika Building Program, or your favorite charity.
