Mary Lee Hill

Mary Lee Hill Galloway, 92, died at Crestwood Hospital in Huntsville on Saturday, December 21. A longtime resident of Huntsville, Mary Lee was born on November 6, 1921, in Hartsfield, Georgia, to Gussie Kelly Hill and Joseph Brewer Hill. She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister Frances Hill Puckett, and her husband James Coleman Galloway. Before moving to Huntsville in 1961, Mary Lee and Coleman lived in Anniston, Enterprise, and Selma, where Coleman managed the State Employment Service. In Huntsville, Mary Lee worked for the Huntsville Board of Education. Mary Lee was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Huntsville and enjoyed singing in the choirs. In later years she has enjoyed living at Brookdale in Jones Valley. Survivors include two sons: James Coleman Galloway Jr. (Regina) of North East, Maryland, and Joseph Wilson Galloway (Sandey) of Huntsville; three grandchildren: Elizabeth Galloway Agee (Andy), of Huntsville, James Coleman Galloway III (Heather) of Elkton, Maryland, and John Barton Galloway (Sarah Jane) of Louisville, Kentucky.; six great-grandchildren: Nicholaus, Nathan, and Nevan of Elkton, Maryland, and Caitlyn, Abby Grace, and Victoria of Huntsville. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Thursday at Laughlin Service Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. There will be a graveside service at 11 a.m. Friday at Rosemere Cemetery in Opelika.
