Doris E. Schwander, 91, of St. Joseph, passed away on Saturday, November 2, 2019, at Spectrum Health- Lakeland.
A private family celebration will be held at a later date. Burial will take place in First Baptist Cemetery, Birmingham, AL.
Doris was born on September 27, 1928 to Raleigh and Izetta (Wilson) Franks in Birmingham, AL. She grew up during the depression, which helped mold her hard work ethic. Doris was a self-educated woman, and over the years she worked at various hospitals in the Western Kentucky, Southern California and Northern Michigan areas. At one point she also served directly as Lee Iacocca’s secretary through General Motors Company. Most of all, Doris cherished her family.
Doris is survived by her sons, Charles (Harriett) Martin and Billy R. Martin, Sr.; grandchildren, Kathy (Matt) Gilland, Carrie (Joe) Shaw, Scott (Andria) Martin, Heather Martin and Billy Martin, Jr.; great-grandchildren, Amanda (Ben), Nicetti (Cameron), Ashton, Alexis, Jaelynn, Emileigh and Kyleigh; great-great-grandchildren Carter, Hattie and Andrew and brother, Buddy Franks.
