RAYMOND LOUIS (MERCY MERCY) HOOKER, SR. born December 6, 1926 went to be with the Lord on September 18, 2003, after a courageous battle with cancer. Mr. Hooker served in WWII as a guard over wartime trials. After military service, he became a pipefitter out of pipefitters local union 211. Mr. Hooker recently received his 50-year pen from local 211. After retiring he went to work at Wal-Mart as a door greeter. He really enjoyed this job and had a special friendship with many co-workers. Mr. Hooker is preceded in death by his parents Robert and Addie Hooker, brothers Donald and Buck Hooker, son Dennis Hooker and daughter Sherry Hooker. Mr. Hooker will be greatly missed by his wife of 27 years Dorothy Hooker, children Raymond L. Hooker Jr., Ronald D. Hooker and wife Laura, Ardis Bradshaw and wife Lauri, Cathy McKenzie and husband Jimmy, Barbara Newton and husband Terry, John Glen Hooker and wife Cathy, Lynn Hooker and wife Debbie, Marcus Bradshaw and wife Nicole, Chris Bradshaw. Numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. Mr. Hooker had many good and faithful friends, including his best friend of many years Jim "Red" Rice. Anytime someone needed a helping hand; his was the first hand there. His love for his family was unconditional and they loved him unconditionally. The world has lost a wonderful soul, but heaven gained an angel of the highest magnitude. Visitation will be held from 4-9 P.M. Sunday evening at Rosewood Funeral Home, Porter Texas. Funeral Services will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday September 22, 2003 at Rosewood Funeral Home Chapel Porter, Texas. Graveside services will follow at Rosewood Memorial Park.
