Ronald T. Hudson, 71, passed away Saturday, Nov. 22, 2008.
Memorial service: 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 29, at First Presbyterian Church, 1200 S. Collins St., Arlington.
Memorials: In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimer's Association or the Parkinson's Institute and Clinical Center.
Ronald Thomas Hudson was born Feb. 1, 1937, in Duncan, Okla., and he grew up in Zionsville, Ind. He earned a B.S. in chemical engineering at Purdue University and an M.B.A. from Texas Christian University. In 1959, Ron married his college sweetheart, the former Marion Moysey, and they had two children, Andrew and James.
Ron worked for 35 years in engineering and finance for Lone Star Gas Co., which later became ENSERCH Corp. and then TXU. During his time there, he ultimately rose to the position of director in the corporate development and planning division.
Ron was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon social fraternity and Beta Gamma Sigma, national scholastic honorary fraternity. He was also a registered professional engineer in Texas. Ron was a longtime member of First Presbyterian Church in Arlington, where he served as a deacon and elder and as the chairman of the church's finance committee. Ron also contributed to the community by being the head coach for several years of the Blazers youth soccer team, on which his younger son, James, played. His commitment to teaching and developing the soccer skills of these young boys and to being fair to all of his players, while still fielding a very successful team, earned him widespread respect and admiration.
Survivors: His beloved wife, Marion; sons, Andrew and James; his daughter-in-law, Diane; their children, Adam Marak and Susan Hudson; and his sisters, Pauline Means and Sue Bergstrom.
