George Henry Horn, 85, of Gillespie, IL, passed away at his residence in Gillespie, IL on Monday, February 23, 2015, at 3:10 p.m. He was born on July 31, 1929, in Dawson County, Texas to Bonnie Wayne Horn and Dolly Ladonia (Nelson) Horn. He married Barbara P. Hughes on February 10, 1950, in Lovington, New Mexico.
He was a retired Federal Mine Inspector and later worked at Drew Ford in Gillespie, IL. George was a past member of the Elks Club in New Mexico and New Mexico Mining Association. George was a current member of the Wolf Pack Car Club in Litchfield, IL. He enjoyed his old cars and going to car shows with his wife Barbara.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara P. Horn of Gillespie, IL; daughter, Janet (Husband: Jim) Hughes of Ozark, MO; sons, George Michael (Wife: Patricia) Horn of Madison, AL and Boyd Wayne Horn of Gillespie, IL; five grandchildren, Jennifer Hughes-Tate of Ozark, MO, Jannece Hughes-Sutterfield of Ozark, MO, Thomas Michael Horn of Madison, AL, David Patrick Horn of Madison, AL, Kristopher Boyd Horn of Clearwater, FL; three great-grandchildren, Jessica Lynn Tate, Abigail Sutterfield, Daniel Sutterfield; sister, Nadine Womack of Lubbock, TX; and dogs, Leo & Geo.
George was preceded in death by his father, Bonnie Wayne Horn; mother, Dolly Ladonia Horn; brother, Donald Horn; and sister, Bonnie Brumley.
Private family services will be held with Rev. Richard Hill officiating. Burial of his cremains will be at Stone Hill Cemetery in Salem, MO. Memorials are suggested to donor’s choice.
