Lawrence Ray Mitchell, 73, died Thursday, March 15, 2012 in Sunset.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at First Baptist Church of Bowie with Pastor Mike Henson officiating. Burial to follow in Newport Cemetery under the direction of the White Family Home of Bowie.
He was born on June 23, 1938 in Coleman County, Texas to Sterling Walter and Bertie Mae(Hamlett) Mitchell. He married Kerry Deanne Knight on June 2, 1973 in Tarrant County, Texas. He served in the Army and worked for IBM, Washex, and ABB Inc.-retiring in 2010 after 24 years.
Survivors include wife, Kerry Mitchell of Sunset; two daughters, Laura Christine"Christy" Huff of Fort Worth, and Melissa Renee "McBeth of Fort Worth; one granddaughter; two brothers, Roy Mitchell of Garland,and J.C.Mitchell of Granbury; and two sisters, Joyce Anderson of Hico, and Jean Wallace of Bangs.
Visitation from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
