Mrs. Vorhees West Dies
Following an illness of three years, during the last three weeks of which she was bedfast, Mrs. Josephine West, aged 72 years and for many years a resident of Galena, died at about noon Friday at her home at Tenth and Joplin streets. Mrs. West was a native of Stockholm, Sweden, having come to America during her early childhood.
Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. R. E. McCormick of St. Louis, Mrs. George Seanor of Joplin and Mrs. Charles Campbell of Galena; a son, Olin West of St. Louis; a sister, Mrs. Amelia Wadleigh of Joplin, and six grandchildren. The funeral was held at the family residence Sunday afternoon.

Josie first married Harvy Field on 13 Jul 1877 in Labette, Kansas, and was shown in Colfax, Wilson, Kansas, in 1880, with Harvy and a daughter Ines, age 11 months. Her mother perhaps, Brita Anderson, lived next door with son Adolph.
When Josie married Voorhees on 17 Jan 1884, in Cherokee County, she was shown with last name of Fields.
