Gerald Wilfred "Jerry" DuPont Sr.

Jerry's mother told Sharon Ivory the following story:" Before Jerry's birth
his Dad took bets from his friends about the sex of the baby. He promised he would name the baby after the first friend who paid off his bet. --That
was Jerry Villeneuve." So that was how the baby became Jerry DuPont.

Gerald "Jerry" Wilfred DuPont, age 66, of Mesa passed away September 10, 2007 after a long illness. He was born in Escanaba, Michigan, March 24, 1941. He spent most of his life in the Escanaba-Gladstone-Iron Mountain, Michigan area. Seven years ago he moved to Mesa to enjoy retirement. Jerry first worked for Harnischfeger Corporation as a laborer, machinist and then a foreman. After twenty-four years he went to work for Lakeshore Incorporated in Iron Mountain where he was a foreman and later an industrial salesman. After retirement in 2000, he held a part-time job at Frys Grocery in Mesa. He retired from Frys July 31st of this year. Jerry was an avid golfer and at one time was club champion of the Gladstone Golf Club. He is survived by his wife, Sharon Ivory, his son Edward DuPont, his daughters, Kristine Lloyd and Carrie DuPont Al-Tamimi. He also left, three brothers, a sister, four grandchildren and two step-grandchildren. A memorial mass will be held at 4 pm Wednesday September 12th at Holy Cross Church, 1244 South Power Rd. Mesa. All family and friends are welcome to attend. Burial will be in Fernwood Cemetery, Gladstone, Michigan. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to Hospice of the Valley.
