Don Wells

Don Wells, age 79, passed away on Sunday, January 19, 2014. He was born on January 22, 1934 to Teman and Beulah Christine Wells in Grand Saline, Texas. He was raised in Hawkins, Texas and graduated from Hawkins High School in 1951. He served in the U. S. Navy in 1951 during the Korean War. Don graduated from Texas Tech University in 1959 with an Industrial Engineering degree. He married his wife, Patsy, of 57 years on May 29, 1956. Don was employed by the Corpus Christi Depot and retired in 1990 as Director of Modernization. He enjoyed participation in Gideons International, church softball and basketball. Don was a long time Deacon at Parkdale Baptist Church and at the time of his death, he was a Deacon at First Baptist Dallas. He will always be remembered for his love and devotion to family. His children and grandchildren were the joy of his life and he enjoyed yearly vacations with family and friends in Arkansas and Galveston, Texas.
Don is preceded in death by his mother, Beulah Wells; father, Teman Wells; and his precious granddaughter, Natalie Wells who passed away December 2013.
He is survived by his wife, Patsy Wells; daughters, Sharon (Ted) Lewis, Brenda (Bryan) Tumlinson both of Corpus Christi, Texas; sons, David (Sheri) Wells of Royse City; brother, Weldon (Julie) Wells of Dallas, Texas; grandchildren, Ryan, Minchew, Molly (Chris) Wight, Taylor Lewis, Kelly Minchew, Brandon Wells, Lauren Wells, Andrew (Rachel) Tumlinson, Megan Tumlinson; numerous sister-in-laws, brother-in-laws, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
A Graveside Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 24, 2014 at Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery followed by a Memorial Service at 3:00 p.m. at Padre Island Baptist Church. Pallbearers will be Bryan Tumlinson, Ted Lewis, Ryan Minchew, Brandon Wells, Andrew Tumlinson, and Taylor Lewis
