JOHN W. CASTLE, 68, of North Branch, passed away Thursday, January 23, 2014 at his home with his family at his side.
John was born on July 28, 1945, in Detroit, the son of Wells and Mary (Waldon) Castle. John grew up in North Branch and graduated from North Branch High School in 1963. John proudly served his country in the U.S. Army and the Michigan National Guards. He was a member of the North Branch American Legion Post #457 and the U.A.W. John was an avid fan of the Detroit Tigers. He enjoyed hunting, working on word searches, and watching Western Movies on TV.
John is survived by his daughter, Kimberly (Matthew) Earegood of Florida; son, Kevin (Shannon) Castle of Kentucky; sisters, JoAnn (Bill) Welke of North Branch and Beth (Randy) Shoemaker of Oklahoma; brothers, Alfred ( Joanne) Castle and David (Duan) Castle, both of North Branch; 6 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
John was preceded by death by his parents; brother, Robert; granddaughters, Taylynn and Jennifer.
Memorials may be directed to the family to be used for their wishes.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, January 28, 2014 at Blackburn Chapel-Martin Funeral Home, with Rev. Ronald Hutchinson officiating. Military Honors were conducted by the North Branch American Legion Post # 457, with burial following at the North Branch Burlington Cemetery.
John’s last request was for everyone to wear a Detroit Tigers T-shirt to the Funeral Service.
