Ethlyne Hanson
(29 Jan 1921 - 9 Oct 2016)
Ethylene Hanson Hopper of Austin Texas, formerly of Lake Jackson Texas, passed away peacefully on October 9, 2016 at the age of 95. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother who will be greatly missed. Ethylene was born in Houston Texas on January 9, 1021 to Charles Spencer Hanson and Eudora Christina Holt. The family moved to Freeport Texas when she was a small child and she spent most of her life in Freeport and Lake Jackson. Ethylene graduated from Freeport High School in 1938. In 1941 she married Sam M. Hopper. She worked for Southwestern Bell for 38 years and retired as a supervisor in the Lake Jackson office. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Lake Jackson for many years. Sam passed away in 1989 and in 1994 she built a house in Hilltop lakes and moved there to be closer to her sister. She enjoyed her time at Hilltop Lakes, where she met many good friends and was active in the local church. In 2009 she moved to Austin and lived at Englewood Estates until her death. Until her vision declined, Ethylene loved to play bridge and cross stitch. She also loved watching football, especially the UT Longhorns. The thing she enjoyed most was spending time with her daughters, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Ethylene was preceded in death by her husband, Sam M. Hopper, her parents, her brother Spencer Hanson and sisters Mary Hoch and Charlene Bethel. Surviving Ethylene are her daughters, Sandra H. Holt (Thad) of Austin and Andrea Kay Johnson (Allen) of The Woodlands Texas; grandchildren, Thad Holt IV, Kalynne (Ryan) Wolford, Greg (Sandra) Comer, and Lindsay (Wyatt) Thomason; great grandchildren, Libby Wolford, Brodie and Ellie Thomason, and Jacob and Mia Comer. She is also survived by her sister in law, Jane Hanson. The family wishes to express their gratitude to Naomi Yanez, for her care and support of Ethylene during the last months of her life. Services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Thursday October 13 at Restwood Funeral Home. Visitation will be at 12:00 P.M.
