Douglas Aubrey "Beanie" Burn
(19 Apr 1918 - 19 Aug 2004)
Douglas was born on the 19th April 1918. He grew up in Elliott Street in Nelson. He worked at McKenzies Dept Store as a Storeman until he left to become a Seaman on the coast freighter MV Piroto. He married Ellen Enid Mahon in 1955 and went to work at the Nelson Freezing Works where he stayed until he retired. He passed away in August 2004 in Nelson Hospital after a broken leg resulted in a hospital stay and he contracted Pneumonia.
