(LAFAYETTE) Ben Burton, 70, of LaFayette died Friday, Dec. 22, 2006, at George H. Lanier Hospital, Valley.
Mr. Burton was born in Chambers County on Feb. 22, 1936. He was a U.S. Army veteran and a retired timber cruiser. He was a member of LaFayette Heights Baptist Church.
Services were at LaFayette Heights Baptist Church on Tuesday, Dec. 26, at 2 p.m. with interment in LaFayette City Cemetery. The Rev. Paul Howard officiated.
Surviving are four children, Kathy Avsay of Birmingham, Benjy Burton of LaFayette, Amy Hewitt of Graham and Steve Golden of LaFayette; one sister, JoAnn Heath of LaFayette; one brother, Buddy Burton of LaFayette; and 11 grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Edwin McDann, Randy Dodgen, James Daniels, Charles Burton, Steve Golden and David Mickle.

Funeral service for Ben Burton of LaFayette were held at LaFayette Heights Baptist Church at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 26, 2006. Interment was at LaFayette City Cemetery with Rev. Paul Howard officiating. Visitation was at the Funeral Home Monday night from 6 to 8 p.m. Mr. Burton who was born February 22, 1936 in Chambers County, passed away at George H. Lanier Hospital Friday, December 22, 2006 at the age of 70. Mr. Burton was a member of LaFayette Heights Baptist Church. He was also a U.S. Army veteran and a retired timber cruiser. He is survived by four children, Kathy (Sadri) Avsay of Birmingham, AL; Benjy Burton of LaFayette, AL, Amy (Randall) Hewitt of Graham, AL and Steve (Neita) Golden of LaFayette, AL; one sister, JoAnn (Ray) Heath of LaFayette, AL; one brother, Buddy (Linda) Burton of LaFayette, AL and eleven grandchildren.
