G. Harry Hopkins (1905-1950), 45, Jacksonville, was drowned late Saturday night in the St. Johns River near Welaka when a small boat capsized.
Hopkins went fishing Saturday afternoon with salesmen from the car company where he worked. He was alone when the boat turned over. His body was found yesterday morning.
Hopkins, a native of Charleston, S.C., has lived in Florida for 25 years. The body was taken to Crescent City. Funeral arrangements will be announced later. (Palatka Daily News Obituary dtd Monday, 12 Jun 1950.)
