Ethelyn Upshaw Stults, age 79, died May 12, 2005, at Spanish Oaks Retreat under the care of Hospice. Born on June 5, 1925 in Atlanta she moved to Savannah in 1937. Mrs. Stults was a 1942 graduate of Savannah High School and graduated from Duke University in 1945. She worked with the Fulton County Child Welfare Department in Atlanta from 1946-1951 and was Supervisor of the Oak Hill Children's Home in Atlanta from 1951-1953, returning to Savannah in 1953. She was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church where she served on the Chancel Guild and was a member of the Episcopal Church Women of St. Johns Church. She was a member and former tour guide of the Historic Savannah Foundation, a member of the Junior League of Savannah and the Juvenile Protective Association and was president of the Savannah Home for Girls. Surviving are her husband, Dr. Thomas Cooper Stults of Savannah; a son and daughter-in-law, Thomas Cooper Stults, Jr. and Debbie Zortman Stults of Daphne, AL; and several nieces and nephews.
