Wilton Clyde "Smokey" Harvey

Wilton C. "Smokey" Harvey, 90, of Pampa, went to be with his Lord and Savior July 22, 2018 in Clute, TX.
Services will be 2:00 PM, Friday, July 27, 2018 at the Carmichael-Whatley Colonial Chapel with Pastor Bob Hudson, retired Baptist minister, and Pastor Paul Hudson, minister of Bible Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery with military honors courtesy of U. S. Army, Fort Hood, Texas. Arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.
Smokey was born Dec. 21, 1927 in Collingsworth County in his family home. He was a 1946 graduate of Samnorwood High School. He served his country in the Army from Sept. 1950 to Aug. 1952 and was a veteran of the Korean War. Smokey married Vera Cheely Searl in 1954 and they were married 42 years.
He was a real cowboy and worked on several local ranches for many years until going to work for the Pampa Water Dept. where he retired after over 30 years. He was a dedicated and faithful member and treasurer of Bible Baptist Church in Pampa for 59 years and attended First Baptist Church of Clute for the last three years. Smokey loved to hear God's Word, fish, and spend time with his family, especially his grandkids.
Smokey was preceded in death by his parents, Loy Harvey and Hester Davis; brothers, Gerald Harvey and Davis Harvey, and wife Vera Cheely Searl.
He is survived by a sister, Barbara Kilmartin of Oklahoma; by a daughter, Linda Harvey of Clute; by his granddaughter, Dawn Grimes and husband Pete of Lake Jackson; great-grandchildren, Dustin Grimes and wife Haley of Jones Creek and by Caitlin Grimes of Austin; and by his great-great-grandson, Ayden Grimes, and many family and friends. He will be greatly missed!
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00-6:30 PM, Thursday, July 26, 2018.
