SHAMROCK - Hix "Doc" Guynes, 79, died Thursday.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today in the Assembly of God Church with the Rev. Wynes Manning, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Dozier Cemetery, by Richerson Funeral Home.
Mr. Guynes, born in Vernon moved to Shamrock in 191. He was a rancher and a rodeo participant. He won many trophies for his competition in rodeos. He was a charter member of the Shamrock Sheriff's Posse. He married Myrtle Smith in 1980 at Shamrock. He was a Baptist.
Survivors include his wife; two sisters, Charlene Stafford of Shamrock and Gladys Knighton of Pomona, California.

Three Day Rodeo Set At Shamrock
The Shamrock Rodeo Club has announced a non-professional rodeo Friday, Saturday and Sunday, September 21, 22 and 23. The shows are scheduled for Friday night, Saturday afternoon and night and Sunday afternoon.
Prizes will be awarded for bronc riding, bull riding, dogging, calf roping and cow milking. A sponsors contest will be held, in which the girls are to leave the chute horse back, ride to the center of the arena, dismount, milk a cow, and return to the chute on foot. A junior cowboy contest is also scheduled.
Carl B. Armstrong will be arena director, while Doc Guynes is in charge of all stock and equipment. Mr Guynes is widely known among rodeo fans of the southwest, having ridden in many contests here, as well as winning in Canadian, Mangum and Stamford shows. The Bill Lyons stock of Wichita Falls, wildest in this part of the country, will be leased for the rodeo
