GRINNELL Harriet Lawrence Brown, 96, died June 13, 2016, in Lexington. She was born in Cleveland, OH to Wayland W. Brown and Lois Hoffman Brown. She graduated from Smith College in Northampton, MA and married Robert McKey Grinnell in 1941. After his service in World War II, they moved to Miami, FL. Following his death in 1962, she taught for many years at Ransom Everglades School in Miami. After moving to Lexington in 2002, she became an active member of Donovan Scholars Readers Theater and L.A.S.P. (Lexington Academy of Senior Professionals). She is survived by a sister, Natalie Denton; daughters, Sue Grinnell Baskin, Barbara Grinnell, Sara Grinnell Smith; son, Robert Grinnell; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 10am on Wed, June 22, at Good Shepherd Church (533 E. Main St, Lexington). Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of the Bluegrass.

Harriet Brown Grinnell, 96, widow of Robert McKey Grinnell, died Monday June 13, 2016 in Lexington. She was born in Cleveland, Ohio, daughter of the late Wayland Wickliffe Brown and Lois Hoffman Brown. She graduated from Smith College in 1940, married in 1941 and after her husband's service in World War II, moved to Miami, Florida. She taught for many years at the Everglades School for Girls and Ransom-Everglades School in Miami, Florida. She is survived by three daughters; Sara Smith, Barbara Grinnell , all of Lexington, Sue Baskin, Clyde, North Carolina, son; Robert Grinnell, Omaha, Nebraska, sister; Natalie Brown Denton, Elmira, New York, and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
