Norman Dean Leibrandt

Norman D. Leibrandt passed away on June 2, 2017 at the age of 88.
Norman was the second child born to Gustav and Lydia (Kautz) Leibrandt at McCook, Nebraska on October 23, 1928. His older brother, Gene and his parents preceded him in death.
Norman attended school in McCook and graduated from McCook High School in 1946. He served in the United States Army in Thule Greenland from 1948 – 1952.
On June 14, 1953, Norman married Lila Burton, his high school sweetheart, at Peace Lutheran Church in McCook. Together they raised four children, Barbara, Michael, Daniel and Sharon.
Norman worked for the U.S. Postal Service for 32 years and was a lifelong member of Peace Lutheran Church. He served the community and the church in various positions throughout the years.
Norman is survived by his wife Lila of McCook; daughter, Barbara (Tom) Dill of Allen, Texas; son, Michael (Pat) Leibrandt of McCook; son, Daniel (Dawn) Leibrandt of Lathrop, Missouri and daughter, Sharon (Mike) Webster of Anchorage, Alaska; nine grandchildren, Alexandra, John, Chris and Beth Dill; Eric Leibrandt; Josh and Noah Leibrandt; and Madison and Gage Webster. His sister-in-law Ruth, and nieces Judy and RuJeanne and nephew Steve, reside in Portland Oregon.
Norman was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and friend. His sense of humor and joyful spirit will be missed by all who knew him.
Memorials may be given in his name.
Visitation will be Thursday, June 8, 2017 from 10:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. at Herrmann Jones Funeral Chapel in McCook, Nebraska. The family will be greeting friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Friends may go online at www.herrmannfh.com to extend condolences to the family.
Funeral services will be Friday, June 9, 2017, 10:30 a.m. at Peace Lutheran Church with Pastor Brett Hinrichs officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.
