Virginia May Reynolds

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — Virginia May Reynolds Bolles passed into glory on May 28, 2021.
She was born at home in McCook, Neb., June 5, 1925, the oldest of nine and the first daughter to Francis and Lila Campbell Reynolds. She attended elementary and high school in McCook. On June 24, 1945, she married Robert Ray Bolles, a young naval officer from Red Willow County, Neb., who she met at the McCook 1st Assembly of God Church. They remained faithfully married, celebrating their 75th wedding anniversary in 2020, a few months before Robert passed into glory on September 8, 2020. Two children were born to this marriage: a daughter, Dianna Lynn, and a son, Robert Wesley.
Virginia was a loving Navy wife who followed her Navy pilot to many duty stations around the world including three years in London, England. When he retired from the Navy, they settled in Long Beach, Calif., his last tour of duty.
Virginia undertook various forms of employment besides being a devoted mother and was faithful in Christian service throughout her life. Her final service before retirement was the well-loved secretary at Christian Life Church in Long Beach.
Virginia maintained many ties with McCook, returning there from 1992 through 2003. In 2003, she retired with Robert to Maranatha Village, Springfield, Mo., until moving to Indiana to be near her son following Robert's death.
She was predeceased by her parents and three beloved siblings, Wesley, Robert Dean, and Irene Tourtellotte. Surviving are Eldon Reynolds, Stanley Reynolds, Maurice Reynolds, Kendrick Reynolds, and Kathleen Allerton White. Her daughter, Dianna Lynn Schertz, predeceased them in 1990.
She is survived by her son, Robert W (Peggy); four grandchildren, Stephanie (Willie) Bodger, Gary (Kristi) Schertz, Wesley (Kara) Schertz, Elanor Bolles; eight great-grandchildren; and many loving relatives from both the Bolles and Reynolds sides of the family. A service is planned on Wednesday, 10:00am, at the Maranatha Chapel, 233 East Norton Rd, Springfield, MO, with interment at Greenlawn Cemetery, Springfield, MO.
