Velda Myrtle McCrea

Velda (McCrea) Jaeger was the family genealogist until she sadly succumbed to alzheimers disease.
Velda M. Jaeger, 75 years of age, of Beatrice, died Sunday morning, Dec. 4, 2011, in Wellington, Kan.
She was born on Jan. 3, 1936, at Beatrice and graduated from Beatrice High School in 1953. She also graduated from the Grand Island School of Business and worked for State Child Welfare in the Capitol Building and ASCO offices in Lincoln. She also worked for SENCAP (Southeast Nebraska Court Alcohol Program) for several years.
She married Arch McConnell (USAF) on Jan. 11, 1958, and they later divorced. On April 4, 1964, she married William Jaeger II and they lived on an acreage southwest of Beatrice before moving to town in 1991. She was a member of Jehovah's Witnesses and enjoyed cooking, gardening, visiting and caring for others, painting, playing the dulcimer and helping landscape for Kingdom Hall Builds.
Survivors include five sons, Norman McConnell and wife Cheri, Clifford McConnell, Neil McConnell and wife Linda, William Jaeger III, Robert Jaeger and wife Debra, all of Beatrice; eight grandchildren, Jen Cunningham and husband Zach of Lincoln, Jes Lindblad and husband Nate, Matthew McConnell and wife Ashley, Amanda Fossler and husband Chris, Zach Jaeger, William Jaeger IV, Ryan Jaeger and Logan Jaeger all of Beatrice; one great-granddaughter Lauren Cunningham; two sisters, Barbara Fisher of Lincoln and Beverly Seitz and husband Bob of Beatrice; two brothers, Donald McCrea and wife Alvena of Ellis and Dennis McCrea of Scottsbluff; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Max N. and Helen M. Bear McCrea; her husband, William Jaeger II, who died on February 16, 1999; twin infant sons, Dale and Dana, who died on Nov. 19, 1964; brother-in-law Dean Fisher.
Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 9, at the Fox Funeral Home of Beatrice. Cremation has taken place and there will be no viewing. Private inurnment of the cremains will be at the Evergreen Home Cemetery of Beatrice. A memorial has been established to the family's choice. A guest book for signatures will be available at the funeral home from 8 a.m. Thursday until the time of the service on Friday.
