SPRINGFIELD - George Turnbo of Springfield died March 4 of Alzheimer's disease. He was 87.
He was born Feb. 6, 1920, in Bixby, Ore., to James and Martha Hufstedler Turnbo. He married Lucille Haynes on Jan. 7, 1946, in Oklahoma. He married Eileen Best on Feb. 14, 1975, in Springfield.
Turnbo served in the Army's 45th Infantry Division, Company B, and received the Silver and Bronze stars. He owned Turnbo Ironworks and worked for Hamilton Construction.
Survivors include his wife; two stepdaughters, Sandra Reece of Harrisburg and Linda Sears of Bend; two siblings, Viva Tucker of Oklahoma and A.Z. Turnbo of California; eight grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and two great- great-grandchildren.
No service is planned. Burial will be at Laurel Grove Cemetery in Springfield. Arrangements by Hull & Hull Funeral Directors in Grants Pass.
