Services for Virleene Loman Boone, 80, of Sun City, CA, formerly of Ada, are 10:00 a.m. Monday at the Criswell Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. John Haynes will officiate. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in McAlester.
Virleene passed away, December 12, 2014 after a short illness in a Palm Springs, CA hospital. She was surrounded by her family. Virleene was born June 22, 1934 in Stonewall, Oklahoma to Virl F. and Alice Aleene Scott Loman. She graduated from Los Alamos High School in New Mexico.
She married Daniel Boone on August 27, 1951 in Los Alamos, NM. They lived in Los Alamos until 1956 and then returned to Ada where Mr. Boone attended and graduated from East Central State College in 1960. They then moved to Albuquerque, NM where Mr. Boone began his teaching career, and in 1962 moved to Southern California where they have resided ever since.
In addition to being a wonderful wife, mother and homemaker for 63 years, her interests included collecting and selling antiques, traveling, gardening, reading, watching sports and spending time with her family.
Survivors include her husband, Daniel Boone, Sr., of the home; four children: daughter, Debra Sinay and her husband Gary of Escondido, CA, son, Daniel Boone, Jr. and his wife Susan of Fort Smith, AR, son, Paul Boone of Spokane, WA, and daughter, Brenda Boone of Cardiff, CA; seven grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Alice Aleene Loman and Virl F. Loman of Ada.
Bearers will be Daniel Boone, Jr., Paul Boone, Gary Sinay, Daniel Boone III, Thomas Smith IV, Ryan Wilson, Alex Boone and Blake Weaver.
The family says those who wish may make memorials to a charity of choice or to the Wounded Warrior Project.
