Francis Eugene Townsend, 77, of Lake Jackson died Monday, June 2, 2009, at his home of natural causes. Mr. Townsend was born December 2, 1931, in Galveston, Texas, to Robert and Lexie Townsend.
He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict. He was an active member of St. Mark Lutheran Church, serving on the board of stewardship, as an usher and communion assistant. His other activities include blood donor, senior softball and other organizations.
Mr. Townsend is survived by his wife, Margaret; daughters, Tamara Townsend, Terry Templeton, Toni Dillon and Trudy Roberts and her husband, David; grandchildren, Joy, Jillian, Jacob, Emily, Brandi, Madeline and Katherine. Other survivors include his first wife, Shirley; brother-in-law, Joe Slovak; stepchildren, Curtis Jenkins and Cindy Collins and their families; and many other loving relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his sister, Shirley Slovak.
