Funeral Services for Hilton Wilson, 79, of Lamesa will be held on Monday, May 31, 2010 at 2 p.m. at Northside Baptist Church in Lamesa with Pastor D. Wollam officiating. Burial will follow in Dawson County Cemetery under the direction of Branon Funeral Home.
Hilton passed away on Friday, May 28, 2010 in Lamesa. He was born on Aug. 7, 1930 in San Bernardino, Calif. to Odis and Leona McFarlin Wilson. He married Wanda Wolf on Dec. 26, 1952. Hilton's uncle, Doy Wilson, wed the two at the Lamesa Church of the Nazarene. After graduating from Union Dawson High School in 1954, Hilton entered the United States Army and was honorably discharged in 1956 at the rank of corporal. Hilton was a passionate farmer who would not tolerate a crooked row. In 1992, he traveled to Egypt, where he taught Egyptian farmers how to plant and raise sunflowers. He worked as the general manager at the Texas Tech Research Farm in Amarillo for 22 years. Hilton had a very special place in his heart for his dog Millie, whom he loved deeply.
Survivors include his wife, Wanda Wilson of Lamesa; daughters, Rhonda and husband Glenn Rebber of Waco and Tyra and husband Dale Pratt of Amarillo; a sister, Velora Copeland of Midland; grandchild, Derek Rebber and fiancée Jessica; a step-grandchild, Nathan Pratt; and a step great-grandchild, Kamryn Pratt.
The family suggests memorials be made to Home Hospice, 901 W Missouri, Midland, TX 79701 or a charity of one's choice.
