Lillian F. Hoveland, 86, of Sheridan, WY, died Tuesday, November 11, 2003 in Westview Health Care Center.
Mrs. Hoveland was born May 5, 1917 in Gardner, N.D. to Henry and Martha (Hystad) Fjeldahl. After her mother's death, she was raised by Will and Gertie Whetston. She grew up and attended schools in Plaza and graduated from Plaza High School in 1933. After high school, Mrs. Hoveland moved to Havre, MT where she worked for the Telephone Company. She then worked for the Buttery store in Havre, and while there, met her future husband, Ole Hoveland, who also was working in the Buttery store. The couple was married in Havre July 9, 1938, and the couple was married for 63 years. Mr. Hoveland died October 11, 2000.
The couple moved to Miles City, MT in 1942 where Mr. Hoveland had the Hoveland Men's Store and Mrs. Hoveland did alterations for the store. In 1958, the couple moved to Sheridan where Mrs. became the manager of the City Center, now known as the Sheridan Center Best Western. She became active in Western Welcome, and started her career in real estate in 1966, working for the Galey-Thomas Realty. In 1982, Mrs. Hoveland started the Hoveland Real Estate Agency, retiring in 1990.
Mrs. Hoveland was an active member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, serving on the church council, taught Sunday school and was active in the Steven's Ministry. She was a Past Worthy Matron of the Eastern Star Chapter in Miles City, MT, a member of the Fine Arts Club in Sheridan, and was one of the founding members of Life Link of Memorial Hospital.
She enjoyed gardening, flowers, painting, and spending time with her family.
Mrs. Hoveland was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, 2 sisters, 2 brothers, and 1 son-in-law.
She is survived by 1 son, John W. (Jack) Hoveland, and wife, Carole, of Sheridan; 3 daughters, Joanne Holbrook, of Sheridan, Karen Kawulok, and husband, Frank, of Sheridan, and Marci Kirk, and husband, Pat, of Gillette; 11 grandchildren, and 13 great grandchildren.
Visitation for Mrs. Hoveland will be Friday, November 14, 2003 from 9:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M., and from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M.
Services for Mrs. Hoveland will be 2:00 P.M. Saturday, November 15, 2003 at Trinity Lutheran Church with the Revs. Ronald Nelson and Wilbur Holz officiating. Burial will be in Sheridan Municipal Cemetery. Arrangements are with Champion Ferries Funeral Home.Memorials in memory of Mrs. Hoveland may be made to Life Link of Memorial Hospital of Sheridan County, in care of Karen Green, 1st Interstate Bank, P.
