Joseph Pierce Bill Musick, Jr. Bill Musick was born on September 19, 1928, and died on March 5, 2004, in Austin, Texas. Bill grew up in Port Arthur, Texas, and was elected president of his senior class in high school. He attended Lamar University and graduated from Baylor University with a BA degree and from Baylor Law School with an LLB degree. He married Virginia Morrisson on June 10, 1953. He served as a staff judge advocate at the rank of first lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force. Upon his discharge, he began his career with El Paso Natural Gas Company. In 1973, he was admitted to practice law before the Supreme Court of the United States. In addition, he was a member of the State Bar of Texas for 50 years. He worked as an attorney for EPNG until his retirement in 1984. Bill was a lifelong Baptist. In his late twenties, he was ordained a deacon by the First Baptist Church of Amarillo. His service to churches also included Emmanuel Baptist Church, Farmington, New Mexico, First Baptist of El Paso, and Highland Park Baptist Church of Austin. While at Highland Park, he chaired the Building Committee and led the church in a construction and remodeling project, completed in 1994. Bill remained committed to Baylor University as a member of the Development Council. In 1986, he was General Gifts Division Chairman of the Austin Area Covenant Campaign that raised over four million dollars for the University. He was also a 32nd degree Mason. Bill is survived by his wife, Virginia Musick, and daughters Becky Lynch, Ruth Reagan and husband Don, and Marty Bruner and husband Andy. His six grandchildren are Lisa and Monica Thompson, Andrew and Ben Reagan, and Melanie and Katie Bruner. His three great grandchildren are Valerie Thompson, Ross McMillin, and Lindsie Wheeler. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, March 8th at Highland Park Baptist Church, 5206 Balcones Drive with Dr. Stephen W. Lucas and the Reverend Jill Spruce officiating. A private burial service is planned for a later date. Memorial gifts may be made to the Endowment Fund of Highland Park Baptist Church.
