Charles Michael Carlsen

Charles Michael (Mike) Carlsen died unexpectedly at his home in Mont Belvieu, TX. March 30th, 2012, at the age of 59. He was born November 18, 1952, to Marvin Theodore Carlsen and Mildred Musick Carlsen, in Lubbock, Texas.
The family moved to Midland in August of 1955. Mike attended local schools, graduating from Midland High School in 1971. He attended Lamar College in Beaumont, Texas for two years, transferring to Texas Tech in Lubbock, where he received his BS degree in microbiology and chemistry. After graduation, he worked for the university on a grant researching the DNA protocol. Later, he worked in the laboratory at the Denver City refinery, transferring to ParKem lab in Odessa, Texas for several years, and finally to Enterprise Products in Mont Belvieu, where he worked as a shift chemist for nearly twenty years.
He was preceded in death by his father, Marvin (May of 2011), grandparents, uncles and aunts. Mike is survived by his mother, Mildred M Carlsen (Midland), sisters Andrea Harris (Midland), Laura Yates (Earl of Shepherdsville, KY, Donna Cahill (Andre) of Garland, TX, and brother Stephen M. Carlsen (Alice) of Plano, TX and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mike was a prolific reader, who enjoyed doing private research on many things. He was a wonderful and caring son, especially during his father's last illness, and showed his love and devotion to all of his family and friends.
There will be a graveside service at 11:00 am on Monday, April 9, 2012 at Fairview Cemetery with a memorial service to follow at 1:30 p.m. at First Baptist Church, Midland. Following the memorial service a reception will be held in the church parlor. The Reverend David Johnson will officiate.

As sad as your passing has been, your dad's passing as well as your mothers.... no one has placed a simple head or foot stone upon your resting place. Mike you left your brother and sisters one hell of mess to clean up, but you left them a lot of monies to place a simple stone upon the three of you.... they should be ashamed of this major oversight. your friend Don.

Gravesite Details There is a small headstone that has been placed on Mike's grave. His mom and dad's graves do not have a headstone.
