Vivian Johnson

Vivian Gregory, 95, of Oak Glen Home, Coal Valley, formerly of Milan, died Sunday, April 1, 2007, at Oak Glen Home.
Funeral services will begin at 1 p.m. on Thursday, April 5, at Hodgson Funeral Home, Rock Island. Visitation will be from noon until time of services on Thursday at the funeral home. Interment will take place at the National Cemetery, Arsenal Island. Memorials may be made to Oak Glen Home or In Touch Adult Day Care Center, Moline.
Vivian was born on May 23, 1911, in Grand Saline, Texas, the daughter of Sidney and Mattie Beaver Johnson. She married Joseph Swain in 1932. He passed away in 1944. She later married Donald L. Gregory on April 19, 1947. He passed away on Dec. 26, 1986.
Vivian worked as a clerk for Downing's Dairy from 1959 to 1964, and later as a pie maker for Lucille's Pie Shop from 1966 to 1969.
She was a member of Edgewood Baptist Church, Rock Island.
She enjoyed bingo, playing cards and gardening. She loved being around people, especially her family.
Survivors (and spouses) include daughters, Joan (Charles) Roman, Coal Valley, Katherine Mewes, Milan, Theresa (Larry) Hinson, Rock Island; son, Arby (Willi) Swain, Moline; 16 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; and brothers, James and Ehul Johnson, both of Texas. Her parents and both husbands; sons, Daniel Gregory and Billy Swain; six brothers and four sisters preceded her in death.
