Graveside services for Mrs. Doris Jo Pickitt, 83, of Big Sandy, formerly of Gilmer, will be held 10 a.m., today, August 10, 2010, in Gilmer City Cemetery with the Rev. Marion Palmer officiating under the direction of Croley Funeral Home. Mrs. Pickitt passed away on Sunday, August 8, 2010, in Longview.
Mrs. Doris Jo Pickitt was born May 12, 1927, in Mineola, Texas, to Claude and Jo Brown Heflin. Mrs. Pickitt was the owner of JP's Dress Shop in Gilmer, the head of bookkeeping at First National Bank before her retirement and a member of First Baptist Church of Gilmer.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Pat and LeAnn Pickitt of Gilmer; daughter, Lea Ann Pickitt Clark of Big Sandy; five grandchildren, Cameron Pickett and his wife, Rosline, Collin Clark, Taylor Clark, Weston Roach and Bryce Roach; two great-grandchildren, Cooper and Rylee Pickitt; nephew, John Leonard Pickitt and his wife, Mary of Charlotte, North Carolina; nieces, Molly Bryan and Patti Merriweather; great-nieces, Patricia Farmer; and great-nephew, Johnny Pickitt.
Mrs. Pickitt was preceded in death by her husband, Scott Pickitt and grandson, Brady Pool.
