Lisle Peterson Hites

Lisle ''Bud'' Peterson Hites, 80, Overland Park, KS, died Thursday, February 11, 1999, at his home. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday, February 19, at St. Francis of Assisi in the Pines, 179th & Metcalf, Stilwell, KS; burial will follow in Forest Hill Cemetery, Kansas City, MO. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Thursday at D.W. Newcomer's Sons Johnson County Chapel, 11200 Metcalf, Overland Park.

Bud was born October 11, 1918, in Des Moines, IA, to Lisle and Besse (Peterson) Hites. He was a Phi Psi at the University of Illinois and proudly served his country during WWII with the Army Air Force in North Africa. He was one of the principals of the L.V. Hites Construction Co. and a member of the Associated General Contractors.
He was one of the architects of the VA Hospital in Kansas City. He was also a Kansas City Rotarian and charter member of the Homestead Country Club. Bud was an original member of the Merryweds class at Country Club United Methodist Church and was most recently an active member of the Meridian Adults at the First Baptist Church of Dallas.
Since leaving Kansas City in 1972, Bud lived in Hawaii, Phoenix, AZ, and Dallas, TX, before moving back to Kansas City in 1997 to be closer to his family. Bud enjoyed painting and antiquing and traveled extensively. Bud was preceded in death by both of his parents; his wives, Dorothy Seward Hites and Marianne Land Hites; and one grandson, Daniel A. Hites. Survivors include two sons, Lisle Hites, Louisburg, KS, and Michael Hites, Tarragona, Spain; two daughters, Linda Hites-Coffey, York, ME, andLaurie Piper Hites-Ferrell, Kailua, HI; two stepchildren, Sarah Land, Austin, TX, and David Land, Dallas, TX; and six grandchildren, Christy, Lisle Jr., Aimee, Alison, Jessica and Maya; and one great-grandson, Wesley, on the way. He will be missed by his friends, family and his dog, Maggie. (Arrangements: D.W. Newcomer's Sons Johnson County Chapel).
