George Robinson Lockwood
(22 Mar 1853 - 11 Aug 1924)
Son of Richard J. Lockwood of Delaware & Angelica Peale Lockwood of Virginia. He married Anna Preston Davis, daughter of Rev. Richard Terrell Davis, 23 November 1881, Albemarle, Virginia.
He was educated at the University of Virginia, graduating as a civil engineer. At St. Louis Law School he earned a bachelor of laws degree. A member of the Missouri Bar, he maintained a continuous practice in St. Louis. He was president of Bellefontaine Cemetery, St. Louis.
Much to the forefront of the anti-trust movement of the 1890s, he organized the St. Louis Democratic Sound Money Club in 1895 & protested the enactment of the Interstate Commerce Act of 1887 & the Sherman Act of 1890. He wrote many pamphlets on topics relating to this question, as well as one entitled "Why I Oppose Woman Suffrage".
