HIRT DONALD HENRY SR. age 91, of Grosse Pointe Park, died at his home on November 29, 2013. Don is survived by his wife, Marjorie; their children, Don Jr. (Priscilla), Leslie Roberts (Donald), Douglas (Jean) and Elizabeth Damberg (Mark); grandchildren, Caroline Hirt (Josh Schmidt), David Hirt, Lauren Yavor (Josh), Michael Hirt (Alli), Alicia Hirt and Mary Hirt; and great granddaughter Abby Yavor. He is also survived by his brother Dean Hirt, and was predeceased by his brother Rudolph Hirt. A World War II veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps,and a graduate of Olivet College, Don was associated with businesses established by his grandfather at Detroit's Eastern Market, serving as managing partner of Eastern Market Cold Storage Co. at the time of his retirement. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday December 23, Grosse Pointe Memorial Church,16 Lakeshore Drive, Grosse Pointe Farms, MI, 48236. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made in Mr. Hirt's memory to Grosse Pointe Memorial Church.
