Lucille Steinsick, 93, of Taylor Springs, IL passed away on Monday, July 6, 2015, at 11:20 a.m. at St. Francis Hospital, Litchfield, IL. Visitation for Mrs. Steinsick will be held on Monday, July 13, 2015, from 1:00 p.m. until time of service at 2:00 p.m. at Bass Patton Dean Funeral Home, Hillsboro, IL. Funeral Services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, July 13, 2015, at Bass Patton Dean Funeral Home, Hillsboro, IL. Burial will be in Sunnyside Cemetery, Sorento, IL. Rev. Ralph Ward, Hillsboro, IL will officiate.
Mrs. Steinsick was born on November 16, 1921, to the late Olin and Helen (Coleman) Cannon in Panama, IL. She married Elmer Norman Steinsick on June 12, 1943 in Riverhead, NY, and he preceded her on November 12, 1980. She was a graduate of Hillsboro High School, Hillsboro, IL; attended Southern Illinois University and earned her Teaching Certificate from Greenville College, Greenville, IL. She was a school teacher for 28 years teaching at the Root School in Panama, IL, which was a one room school, Taylor Springs School, Edison School and Beckemeyer School. She and her husband also owned and operated the C&H Cafe, Motel and Service Station on Route 127 south of Hillsboro, IL. Mrs. Steinsick was a member of B&PW, where she served as president and also held other offices; Home Extension; Montgomery County Retired Teachers, where she served as Treasurer; and Meals on Wheels.
Mrs. Steinsick is survived by two daughters, Penny Darte, Springfield, IL and Cheryl Steinsick, Chicago, IL; one son, Jay Steinsick, Hillsboro, IL; three grandchildren, Austin Olin Steinsick, Grandby, CO; Gretchen (Darte) Tucka, Springfield, IL and Emily (Darte) Paulson, Lonetree, CO; four great grandchildren, Jackie, Dylan, Lily and Brody; and one brother, Robert Cannon, St. Louis, MO.
Besides her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by one brother, Donald Cannon, in infancy.
Memorials may be given to Hillsboro Educational Foundation School District Unit #3 or Montgomery County Cancer Association.
