Judge Edwin Earl "Red" Brewer

Funeral services for Judge E. E. "Red" Brewer, 66, of Danbury will be held at 10:00 a-m. Saturday, July 12, 1997, at Palms Funeral Home. Burial will be in Danbury Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-9 p.m. today at Palms Funeral Home.
Judge Brewer passed away on July 10, 1997, in Lake Jackson. He was born January 4, 1931 in Natchez, Mississippi to Earle and Billie Brewer. He moved to Freeport, Texas in 1942 at the age of 11, attended Freeport Junior High and High School, graduating in 1948. He attended A&M from 1948 through 1952 and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Math. Judge Brewer received a commission as Lt. at A&M and went into the Air Force in 1952. He served one year in Korea and was promoted to Captain.
After the service, he enrolled in law school at Texas University, where he graduated in 1958 and received the Hildbrant Award. He started practicing law in Angleton, sharing an office with Attorney John Henderson for three years, then shared an office with Judge Neil Caldwell for 13 years, before running for County Judge of Brazoria County. He was County Judge from 1974 until 1986 and then set up his private practice at his present office in Angleton. While County Judge he had a major part in building the Courthouse extension, Airport, County Library, County Probation facilities, County Health Department faculties, County Museum, County Detention facilities, County Crime Lab and helped to get land donation and to convince the highway department of the need for by-passes around Angleton.
As a young man he belonged to the Boy Scouts, Sea Scouts and was a member of the "Order of the Arrow", an honorary organization within the Scouts. He attended Danbury Baptist Church, and through the years he served as president of Danbury PTA, Danbury Independent School District School Board Member, Danbury City Judge and Danbury City Attorney.
He helped to develop the Small Oaks Subdivision in Danbury, and re-locate the present fire station and city hall. He helped organize, build and develop the Danbury Bank, serving as Chairman of the Board and eventually bought controlling interest, which he sold in May 1987. He helped plan and build Angleton-Danbury General Hospital, and was a charter member of the Board of Directors as Secretary. He has also served as Judge Advocate of Post 501 American Legion, Danbury, President of Brazoria County Fair Association, President of Danbury Chamber of Commerce, Director of Angleton Savings Association and President of 100 Club of Brazoria County. He was a member of the American Bar Association, the Texas Bar Association and the Brazoria County Bar Association.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Billie Brewer; father, Earle Brewer; daughter, Re'Va Novak; grandmother, who helped, to raise him, Nannie Brewer; aunts, Rosalie Brewer, Sissie Reed and Anna Lee Daminguea. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Brewer; sons, Tim Tigner and wife, Leah and Andy Novak, and wife, Carol; daughters, RoVin Garret and husband, Bobby and Jo Ellen Robertsen and husband, Greg; and grandchildren, Shannon and husband, Albert, Tracy, Russel, Rachael, Re'Va, Jennifer, Anna, Wesley, Drucilla, T. J., Cate and Drew.
Pallbearers will be Thomas J. Tigner, Ray Cpmett, Jimmy Allen, Pete Giles, Gary Gratzer and Hubert Norris. Honorary pallbearers will be Honorable Neil Caldwell, G. L. "Bubba" Rouse, Walter Domingues, John Fuchs, Patrick Fuchs, Ronnie Broaddus, Steve Blanchard, John Davis, Clyde Jacobs, John Gayle, John Richers, Billy Jo Plaster, Jerry Fairer, Johnny Hatthorn, Mike Blanchard and Gary McConnell.
