Individual Details

Marguerite Winifred "Peggy" Birdsong

(12 Sep 1924 - 26 Jul 2011)

Peggy B. Milovich died July 26, 2011 in Payette, Idaho.
She was born September 12, 1924 in Visalia, California, the youngest of two girls of Horace and Winnie Birdsong. Peggy graduated from Bishop High School in 1942. She then attended Pasadena Jr. College and graduated with a degree in business. During the war Peggy worked for the government and then the California State Highway Department.
She married (Bob) Robert Milovich May 25, 1947 in Bishop, California. Together they had two sons, Mark and Michael. During her 64 years of marriage, she and Bob owned and operated several gas and tire stations. They were Shell Oil jobbers for Inyo and Mono Counties in California and Tonopah County in Nevada. Peggy was the bookkeeper. And what a great job she did! It was a family operation so when the kids got old enough they helped also.
For a 5 year period Peggy also bought and sold Indian Jewelry in a store at Mammoth, California. She was an expert on style and stones.
Peggy loved being with the children and enjoyed all their sports and friends. She helped them with the ups and downs of life, and always fed everyone and would gladly give a helping hand to all.
In 1981, after retiring and selling the business, they moved to Fruitland, Idaho, where Peggy was active with the Republican National Committee and worked for the election. She also was a supporter of Friday Musical. She met many people and assumed many long lasting relationships. Peggy loved to entertain and knew how to put a huge party together, making us all marvel at how good the food, decorations, and the group of people were. She was an expert-so organized.
Her house was always opened and she was a wealth of information and knowledge. She loved to mother everyone, but was firm and direct. In 2002 Bob and Peggy built a home on the Snake River in Weiser, Idaho where she enjoyed the wildlife.
Preceding her death are her mother and father and both of her sons. This broke Peggy's heart to lose her children.
Peggy is survived by her husband, Bob (Robert) Milovich, of Weiser, Idaho, and her sister, Dorothy Craig, of Lewiston, Idaho.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 2nd at the First United Methodist Church, 502 North 11th Street, Payette, Idaho, with a luncheon following. There will be a viewing one hour prior to service time on Tuesday, from 10-11, at the church. Peggy will be cremated following the services and inurnment will be held at a later date in Bishop, California where Peggy will join her two children.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Shriners Hospital for Children, Fairfax Ave. & Virginia St., Salt Lake City, UT 84103. Arrangements are under the direction of Summers Funeral Homes, Boise, Idaho.
