Henry Gilbert Poole

On Saturday, April 23, 2016 Hank Poole died. He was a resident of Springfield, VA and beloved husband of Dorma Carleen Poole. He was father of Jennifer Budden (Randall) and grandfather to Amelia.
After graduating from Ideal High School in Ideal, GA., he enlisted in the Navy in 1943. Later, he served in the U.S. Air Force as a Master Sergeant retiring in 1968.  His tours of duty included assignments in Washington, including the Pentagon and the Office of the Air Force Aide in the White House during the Kennedy administration.  He also served overseas in Paris, Naples, and Wiesbaden.  After retiring from the Air Force, he was employed with the Comptroller of the Currency’s Bank Organization and Structure Division for over 16 years.
Relatives and friends may call at Jefferson Funeral Chapel, 5755 Castlewellan Drive, Alexandria, VA 22315 on Thursday, May 5 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm.  Funeral service will be held on Friday, May 6, at 11:00 am at First Baptist Church of Alexandria, 2932 King Street, Alexandria, VA 22302.  Interment will be at later date in Arlington National Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to a charity of one’s choice.

Henry enlisted in the US Navy in 1943 after graduating from Ideal High School in Ideal, GA. After his Navy service, he decided to enlist in the US Air Force where he served until his retirement in 1968 at the rank of Master Sergeant. His post military career consisted of working in the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency at the Department of the Treasury.
Henry was survived by his wife, daughter and granddaughter.
