Deacon Thomas Low

( - 12 Apr 1712)

Deacon Thomas Low likely arrived in Massachusetts with his father before 1641, when his father is recorded as being a resident of Chebacco, Ipswich, now Essex. He was the son of Thomas Lowe Sr., and his first wife Margaret Todd. He served in King Philip's war, and had a grant of land in Narragansett Township No. 1, now Buxton, Me., for service. Thomas Low married Martha Boreman July 4, 1660 in Ipswich, Essex Co., MA. His will dated June 17, 1708, was proved May 5, 1712 (Essex Probate 17244).

Thomas Low, along with John Burnham were chosen as deacons of "the second church and parish in Ipswich." Ironically, "the second church and parish of Ipswich" is recorded as being the first church and parish in Ipswich.* They served under Pastor Wise.
