Cyrus Henry "Red Cyrus" Denney

(6 Feb 1851 - 19 Oct 1917)

Wayne County Outlook, 6 Dec 1917
On October 19, 1917, the Lord in his Goodness and wisdom, for some reason unknown to me, saw fit to claim as his own our dear father, Cyrus Denny, at the age of 66 years, 8 months and 13 days.
He professed faith in Christ about forty years ago and joined the Big Sinking Baptist church and lived a good and faithful Christian life ever afterward. I have heard him say so many different times he was to go when the Lord called for him.
He was married to Elizabeth Denney, February 6, 1876 who departed from life May 3, 1895. From this union nine children were born, seven boys and two girls, all of whom are living to mourn their loss, but our loss is his eternal gain, living in the presence and love of God and the angels. I will say to my brothers and sisters, let us all prepare to meet mother and father in the land above, where parting is no more, the weary are at rest.
His Daughter, Lizzie Denney //// Son of Elizabeth Littrell & Cyrus Henry Denney
