After the death of her first husband, William Binks Lafferty. Mary Della was left with six young children to raise. She sold her land in New Mexico and Texas. Moved to the town where the University of Arizona (then N.M. A & M) was located and there she bought a boarding house. She boarded university students. She married a second time to an Engineering. Jessie Hugh Thomasson. They retired to San Antonio Texas where she died in 1964.
Her parents were: "Jennie" Cartwright who's mother was Danish and Dutch and father English, 1/4 Irish, 1/4 Scotch. Her father William McKinney.

Obituary Mrs. Mary Thomasson
Mrs. Mary Delia Thomasson, 85, of 211 Canavan St, a San Antonio resident seven years and member of the Christian Church, died Monday 26 Oct. Mary was born 4 Mar 1878 in Memphis, Texas to William McKinney and Jennie Cartwright. She was preceded in death in 1909 by her first husband William Binks Lafferty in New Mexico. 
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Roy Akers Funeral Chapel, with burial in Mission Burial Park.
Survivors include her husband, Jessie H. Thomasson; the sons, J. Williams Lafferty of the Phillipine Republic, and Charles Ashley of Morencia, Ariz; three daughters, Mrs. Jessie L. Kroon of San Antonio, Mrs. Alice M. Meyer of San Jose, and Mrs Annie Jackson of Seattle, Wash; 10 grandchildren, 18 great-grand-children and two great-great-grandchildren.
