Sarah Mae Shipley

Sarah Mae (Shipley) Delashmutt was born August 1, 1924 in Denison, and passed away on July 25, 2009. She was the daughter of Maggie C. and James B. Shipley. Sarah was raised in Denison and graduated from Denison High School in 1941.
In October 1942 she married Everett N. Delashmutt. One of her favorite sayings throughout life was "I penned pilot wings on my fiance E.N. the morning of Oct. 9, 1942". They were married that afternoon and E.N. left for his first assignment that evening. During the more than 60 years of their married life Sarah saw a great share of the world, enjoying every place they were stationed or visited. She was an active member of many clubs and organizations, but loved playing golf most.
Through the years Sarah was very active as a dedicated gofer having founded many ladies golf leagues throughout her worldwide travels. She was admired and loved by many friends and will be missed by her husband; son, Brantley D. Delashmutt and his wife Joyce; her adopted daughter, Gloria Jean Allardyce and husband William; her three granddaughters; two grandsons; three great-grandsons and four great-granddaughters.
Visitation will be from 6 -8 p.m. Tuesday at the Zoeller Funeral Home in New Braunfels with the family present to greet friends.
Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 29, 2009 at the New Braunfels Presbyterian Church. Interment will follow at 1 p.m. Thursday, July 23, 2009 at Cedarlawn Memorial Park in Sherman. The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be given to Hope Hospice of New Braunfels.
