Ruth Marie Shannon

Ruth M. Bunting, 89, of Michigan City passed away on Sunday, Jan. 10, 2016, at her home in Michigan City.
A time to celebrate her life will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday at the Elks Lodge in Michigan City. A viewing will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday at Root Funeral Home. Cremation will follow viewing and private family burial of the cremains will be at a later date in Swan Lake Memorial Gardens.
Ruth was born April 8, 1926, in Michigan City to the late John and Ruth (Dewaine) Shannon.
On April 26, 1947, in Michigan City, she married John F. Bunting, who passed away on Feb. 15, 2008.
Surviving are two daughters Kathleen Ann Granzow of Michigan City and Karyn Marie (Robert) Francque of Rolling Prairie, Indiana; and one granddaughter Caitlyn Francque of Rolling Prairie.
Ruth is preceded in death by one sister Patricia Quealy.
Ruth was a Past President of the Vivians of Elks Lodge #432. In their retirement years, John and Ruth loved to travel and spent winters in Winter Haven, Florida. She loved to go dancing and playing cards with her many friends. She was a good friend and excellent fun loving mom. She also loved very much her little dog Snoopy and her cat Mollie.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Michiana Humane Society, American Cancer Society, Alzheimers Research or Autism Speaks.
