Arthur J. “Buddy” Fuessel, 80, of Sanford, died on Saturday, April 11, 2015 at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough.
Buddy was born on June 22, 1934 to Arthur V. and Rose (Hines) Fuessel in Portland where he grew up and attended local schools, graduating from Portland High School. Following high school he enlisted in the U.S. Army and proudly served three years during the Korean Conflict. In 1956 he married Annette Berthiaume and together they shared 59 years of marriage and raised two children.
Buddy was employed at WASCO in Sanford for many years before he retired in 1998. He had been a communicant of St. Ignatius and St. Thérèse of Lisieux Parishes in Sanford. He liked working around his home and tending to his gardens. Buddy was a quiet man who enjoyed spending time with his family. He will be remembered as a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather and will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
Surviving are his wife, Annette Fuessel of Sanford; two children, Karen Ruel and her husband Thomas of Wells and Barry Fuessel and his wife Barbara of Shapleigh; two grandchildren, Jessika Dyer and her husband Sean of East Waterboro and Shawn Ruel and his wife Heather of Standish; two great grandchildren, Zachary Dyer and Isabella Tuck and one more on the way.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, April 15th at St. Thérèse of Lisieux Parish, Holy Family Church located on North Avenue in Sanford. Interment will be held later in the spring at St. Ignatius Cemetery in Sanford.
