MAN IS BEREAVED TWICE IN 2 WEEKS
Otto Purkiss Loses Father Sunday. Two Weeks After Wife Succumbs
Death invaded the home of Otto Purkiss, North Washington street for the second time in two weeks, when his father, James Purkiss, 68 years old, died suddenly Sunday night at 7:15 o'clock. The first of the two deaths was that of mr. Purkiss' wife, Mrs. Mae Purkiss, who died of a heart attack two weeks ago Sunday morning.
Mr. Purkiss' death was caused by asthma and came unexpectedly as he sat in a chair. He had been in poor health, however, for the past six years. He and Mrs. Purkiss came her last tuesday from Flint to make their home with their son, following the death of the younger Mrs. Purkiss.
The funeral will be held from Jennings' Funeral Home Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock. The Rev. Kerwood Alexander of Christ Episcopal Church will officiate and interment will be made in Hill Crest Cemetery.
Mr. Purkiss was born in Sanilac County, July 21, 1863 and for the past 18 years had made his home in Flint.
The widow, three sons, Otto of this city, Theodore of Flint, Guy of Detroit and, a daughter, Mrs. Pearl Brofruf of Chicago survive Mr. Purkiss.
