Service Set for William Webster
A memorial service for Omaha businessman William B. Webster is scheduled for 11 a.m. Monday at Trinity Episcopal Cathedral, 113 N. 18th St.
Webster died Friday at Methodist Hospital after a long battle with diabetes and related complications. He was 68.
Webster was born in Chicago and raised in Omaha. He was a graduate of Choate-Rosemary Hall School in Wallingford, Conn., and the University of Omaha.
Webster served in the Army Air Corps in the South Pacific during World War II.
After the war, Webster returned to Omaha, married the former Barbara Spear and worked in investments and real estate.
In 1976 he and his son, John, together with Joe and Emily Baker, founded the Webster - Baker Broadcasting Co. and operated FM radio station KEFM. The company was renamed Webster Communications Co. in the early 1980s.
Webster was a former director of Ash Grove Cement Co., past president of the Omaha Home for Boys, president of the Omaha Club during its reconstruction, former director of Brownell-Talbot School, a member of the Omaha Symphony Orchestra board, past master of the Omaha Lodge of Perfection and a member of the Scottish Rite Cathedral Board.
Besides his wife and son, he is survived by a daughter, Lee Shaw of Santa Monica, Calif., and seven grandchildren.
